
Future Goals & Activities
- Strengthen/expand membership and activities in current PulseNet International networks
- Development, evaluation and validation of next generation typing methods such as MLVA and Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis
- Establishment of other global PFGE databases for research purposes (eg. Global PulseNet S. Typhi Database)
- International collaboration on PFGE protocol development and validation for additional foodborne disease-causing organisms such as Yersinia enterocolitica,and Enterobacter sakazakii
- Maintain and strengthten international collaboration during outbreak investigations
- Establishment of partnerships/affiliations with national and international organizations worldwide in order to consolidate PulseNet International
- Establishment of new PulseNet regional networks
- Achieve real-time subtyping and real-time communication in all PulseNet regional networks
- Use PulseNet data to study the geographic distribution of major clones of foodborne bacteria
- Use PulseNet data to assist in studies attributing the sources of sporadic foodborne infections
